Today we are looking at something that is very sensitive, I don't want you to sign out as soon as you hear the title. We are considering: Enthroning The Most High God Vs Enthroning Satan. Now, even though you are hearing enthroning Satan, perhaps for the first time today, you have been hearing and you have been seeing the activities of Satan in your world, in your nation, and perhaps in your family. Now, whether we are aware of it or not, there is no human being on this earth that is older than Satan, and that is one of his secrets so to say; his cunningness. He has dealt with our forefathers and our great grandmothers, he has related with them and perhaps, their blood is flowing in our blood, he seems to figure out how we also would respond when we are confronted with the same things that our fathers were confronted with.

We seems to have an enemy or an adversary who seems to be older than us, and who has been through so much, who has tried and attacked our great parents, and who is attacking us. Of course, that seems as if he has some advantage over us, but that is only for us who are not in Christ Jesus. There is a place where the Bible says "greater is He that is in us than he that is the world." The him that is in the world is the personality that we are looking at today versus our Most High God. Do we understand? There seems to be a tug of war between God being enthroned in the affairs of men and Satan being enthroned in the affairs of men.

 

When you look at politics, United Nations, and you bring it down to the politics in your locality in Nigeria, and you consider political parties, and you ask: "which of these political parties would you say God is enthroned? Which of the political parties would you say is identified with God? Which of the political parties in Nigeria would you say is working hard in shifting the frontiers of the kingdom of God on the earth?" You see, what this study today will do to us is to help us to realize that no man can sit on the fence. You either belong to the kingdom of Satan or you belong to the kingdom of The Most High God. You are either a subject of the kingdom of hell or you are a servant or a son of the kingdom of light. Do we understand? Nobody can sit on the fence, and there is no government on this earth that is on the fence.

 

A government is a product of a kind of supernatural entity that makes it to come into being. In fact, lest Nebuchadnezzar gets things mixed up, God needed to intervene at a time to show him that there is God in heaven who rules in the affairs of men. We know the story, how he was sent to the bush and he ate grass for several years until it came to his knowledge and understanding that there is one who is in heaven who is the Most High, who is higher than any of those demons who has been whispering into his ears on the earth. Do we see that? Now, before that time, Nebuchadnezzar did not know God. The question is: Was he not serving anyone? He was loyal to some idols, but God came to show him that he is the one who created the things that he was worshipping.

 

You see, there must come a time in the history of a person when God is enthroned in his or her life, or in his or her affairs. There was a time apostle Paul said "God has not left any generation without a witness." Even though many people could claim they could not know God, yet, God could still be known by the things He has created. Do we still remember that place in the book of Acts? The people were worshipping an unknown God, and in addition to that, they were worshipping idols. So, apostle Paul passing by, saw that these people were religious people and he needed to retrace them to the original path. It is not enough for you to be worshipping, but whom are you worshipping? They were worshipping a god they did not know, apostle Paul said "we worship the one that we know." In fact, it was even Jesus who told the Samarian woman that "we know whom we worship."

 

So, it is possible for a people to worship something else and another people to worship the Most High God. Number one: You must be conscious of whom you are worshipping. Number two: That you cannot sit on the fence, and that you can either be under the influence of this kingdom or the influence of the other kingdom. No wonder the Bible says "for this purpose the Son of God was manifested that He might destroy the works of the devil." The works of the devil seems to be the prevailing work until Jesus came and the essence is that He might destroy it. Now, lest we think certain things started happening in our own time, we are going to take a study from the book of Genesis chapter 1, and from there we will be reading from chapters to chapters to see how men have been struggling between enthroning God and enthroning Satan.

 

We know in Genesis chapter 1 verse 1, "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth." Bible didn't say "gods created", and that shows us that God has no competitor, God has no alternative. It was His idea that we are existing, whether principalities or powers or human beings, we are all products of His thoughts and His plan. So, even when the earth became void and formless, it was God still that did something to restore the earth. Now, until Genesis 1:26 when God said "Let us make man in our image and according to our likeness, and let them have dominion." The places and the things that God used to rule over, God said "let man do what we have been doing on this earth, let man become our representatives on the earth." So, that was how dominion over the earth was handed over to man.

 

Now, in Genesis chapter 2 forward, we were shown how man was actually created. Chapter 1:26 shows us what God was planning, chapter 2:7, 8, 15 shows us how man that was created began to function on the earth, and he was functioning under God. In chapter 2, Bible said God brought all the animals to name and whatever name he gave them, that became their names. So, God had a will, God had a purpose, God had an objective, there was something that God wanted done on the earth, God got it done through Adam. Do we understand? So, the will of God was done, but it was done through a man called Adam. So, Adam was enthroning God in his own affair. God was enthroned in the acts and affairs of Adam at this point.

 

Now, God who gave responsibilities to Adam also said: "do everything except this", don't do this! Live your life the way I have created you to live it, but make sure you don't live this kind of life. Don't touch this thing, don't eat it. And so, he did what God told him not to do because there was a third party. We said God does not have alternative, God does not have competitor, but there was a third party that came into being, and that is where we are going to start our reading from. I want to read Genesis 3:1. The Bible says:

 

Now the serpent was more cunning than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said to the woman, “Has God indeed said, ‘You shall not eat of every tree of the garden’?”

 

Now, if we examine that statement: "Has God indeed said?" The beast that was speaking acknowledged there was one who was ruling in the affairs of Adam and his wife. So, he didn't target them, but targeted the one that they were submitting to, the one who was enthroned. To be enthroned means "to be made a Lord and a Master, or to be made a king." So, the one who was ruling them and reigning over them was God and then the serpent said "has God who is reigning over you indeed said?" So, let us see the response in verse 2.

 

And the woman said to the serpent, “We may eat the fruit of the trees of the garden; ³ but of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God has said, ‘You shall not eat it, nor shall you touch it, lest you die.’ ” The one who is enthroned in our own affairs has said You shall not eat it, nor shall you touch it, lest you die.’ ” ⁴ Then the serpent said to the woman, “You will not surely die. ⁵ For God knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.”

 

Now, if you examine the statement made by the serpent, it shows some kind of residual knowledge from the serpent about God and about Adam and his wife. The question is: If the serpent was just a normal animal, how did that serpent got to know? Now, there was a time we said one thing that makes Satan appears to be larger than life is because of his age. He has been, for a very long time, before we were born. Now, again, a beast came to Eve and said "Eve, you that you are the one ruling the earth, you don't know. Let me tell you what you don't know." Is it possible for a normal animal to say "Eve sit down, let me teach you what you don't know?" What was going on? There seems to be someone who was using the animal to communicate to Eve.

 

Eve was ruled by God. She was submissive to God. She was under God and so, whatever God told her, she was knowing and she was living by. Now, here comes a beast that was fellowshipping with Eve. Now, in terms of appearance, the beast looks harmless, right! It looks like just another creature of God. But behind that harmless creature of God is an enemy of God who is determined to actually dethrone God in the hearts of the people. So, we must understand how this thing began so that in case we find ourselves in circumstances, we should not be expecting Satan to come to us with horns and manifest around our lives with so scary an appearance. The question is: the ones and the people who come to us and encounter us on a daily basis, whom are they submitting to? Who is giving them orders to obey? You are a slave or a servant to whomsoever you obey.

 

The serpent yielded itself to be used by someone called Satan while Eve was at that moment submissive to the Lord God. So, there was a kind of confrontation between an ambassador of Satan so to say, one who was filled with the spirit of Satan and one who was filled with the Spirit of God. Yet the one who was filled with the spirit of Satan said "Has God indeed said", and began to challenge what God said. And so, this is how it began. Do we see that, to show us while we could tell ourselves that we are believers, and Christians and living on the earth, you are actually living among a people generally or things that have the opportunity to yield themselves to this kingdom, while you have the privilege to yield yourself to the good kingdom.

 

You are a person, just like the rest of the over 7 billion people on the face of the earth today, while you see everyone as just normal human beings or seen animals as animals or trees as trees, what this create in us is an awareness that you must have about the people you relate with and about the people you conduct business with. Eve was transacting business with the one who was an agent of darkness. Even though it appears as harmless, and innocent as a cunning beast, just a wise beast; but inside that serpent was a creature that had been before Eve was, who knew everything around the life of Eve that Eve did not even know. So, that creature used the superior knowledge to overcome Eve who just thought she was relating with a harmless person.

 

So, you don't just see people and do things with them, what about the person in him? Are you aware of the kind of spirits that is in such a person. Now, there is a place in the Bible where Jesus rebuked two brothers, James and John. They said to Jesus "they didn't receive you here, do you want us to call down fire from heaven to consume them?" Jesus said to them "you cannot do that for you do not know the kind of spirit that you are of." This Spirit that is in you does not do this kind of things. You are of a pure Spirit, you are of the Holy Spirit, the things you do must be pure and holy. So what happens if they are of an unclean spirit? So, even though they look like normal John and James, then they we do things that are abnormal, things that are corrupt. What is producing this? The person that is enthroned in their affairs. Do we see where we are going? That what people do, whether they are man or woman, innocent or not innocent, is not what they will really love to do, but what the spirit in them compels them to do. Do we get?

 

So, if a man wants to do good, and the spirit is not a good spirit; the man will do evil. If a man wants to do evil and the spirit in him is a good spirit, the man cannot do the evil. That is what happens to James and John. So, in that Genesis chapter 3, we saw how it all began, confrontation in a cunning manner. That is why the Bible says "He was cunning." if Eve had known that the being that was talking to her was going to dethrone her as a person and dethrone God in her, she would have gotten herself ready for battle. But she did not know, she was just innocent and careless. And that is how is it also possible for us today to be innocent and careless, not knowing that there is a battle of light and the kingdom of darkness. And we, even though we look like we are the same, we differ in whom is enthroned in our affairs.

 

When I am using the word affairs, I am beginning with our hearts. The foundation of our fears is our heart. As a man thinks in his heart, so is he. So, out of the heart proceeds evil thoughts. But if the heart is a pure heart, out of it proceeds pure thought. so your affair begin with your heart and in he who is enthroned in your heart will determine the outflow of your life. And that is why we are examining Enthroning The Most High God Vs Enthroning Satan. Any one that you enthrone will determine the kind of life that you live and the kind of results that you command. And so, you who is having the Lord God enthroned in your heart, don't assume everybody has the Lord God enthroned in their hearts, lest you become a prey in their hands.

Be aware of the battles that is taking place around you, be aware of the battles that is taking place in your own life or affair. Now, I want us to go to Genesis chapter 4 and see another thing. The story of Cain and Abel, and I am going to start from verse 4. The Bible says:

 

"Abel also brought of the firstborn of his flock and of their fat. And the Lord respected Abel and his offering", Did you see that? It says "The Lord, the Most High" respected Abel and his offering but He did not respect Cain and His offering and Cain was very angry and his countenance fell." Just like many of us, something does not work like the way we want it to work out, and so, we get angry. We flair up! Now, while that anger looks innocent, it looks like a natural occurrence, by the time we look through the book of Genesis 4, we will see that the anger is not innocent, and the anger did not originate from Cain, but there was something and a being that was producing it. So, if he is without that being, he won't be angry. Do we understand? So, for Cain, the only way he would not be angry was not that God would accept what he brought, no; but that that which has entered him get out of him.

 

Hitherto, Bible says, from verse 3, that Cain brought an offering of the fruit of the ground to the Lord, and Bible says and Abel also brought. So, that shows us that Cain was a man that knew God and he had a relationship with God. In fact, he wanted to do the will of God, he wanted to please God. Because the word appease, is also close to the word 'pleased', so he wanted God to be pleased with him and so, he brought. So, we could call him a man of God or a servant of the Most High God. But between the time he brought an offering unto God and the time he became angry, something happened. There was a scenario that created an opportunity for Satan to come in.

 

A man of God suddenly has a space in his heart that Satan could enter. And so, let us continue from verse 6. "So the Lord said to Cain, “Why are you angry? And why has your countenance fallen?" So, you ask: Does God not know why he was angry? We know when God is asking questions, it is not because He wants to know. It is because Cain must know. When God is asking you a question, it is that you may know. So, God just gave him a true picture. Suddenly you that wanted to please me, and brought an offering to me, has suddenly become angry, and about to do something bad. What has changed? What has produced it? Now verse 7 says: "If you do well, will you not be accepted?"

 

So it means he didn't do well. "And if you do not do well, sin lies at the door. And its desire is for you, but you should rule over it.” He should rule over it. Hitherto, God was telling him, "I was enthroned in your affairs, and in your heart." See what the Bible says "if you do well, will you not be accepted?" But since you do not do well, sin lies at your door. So, what was the way to stop that sin? Do well! It says if you do well, will you not be accepted and since you do not do well, sin lies at your door and its desires is for you." That sin that is at your door is coming to take over you. It wants to grab you or possess you, but this is what you must do; rule over it, be the lord of it, be it master. Don't become a slave to it, don't become a subject to it. Another word for sin in that place is 'rebellion lies at your door'. Every kind of sin you could ever imagine is at your door, and the reason for that is because the sin wants you to be synonymous with it so that when they see you, they call you sinner, they call you all manner of things. A man who is a thief is a man who stole. So, the sin that lies at the door was the sin of stealing.

 

You know we began by saying that none of us human beings is as old as Satan, right! So, when someone who is older than you comes to fight you, what you must do is to run to Him who has power over the person. That is how we should do when sin comes knocking at the door of hearts. You run to the one who has power over sin. That is why the Bible says "resist the devil and he shall flee from you, and run from every appearances of evil." Don't try to fight it, run from it. Run unto God, don't parley with sin. But we know the end of Cain, he didn't rule over the desire of sin. The anger that started and his countenance that fell translated into him becoming a murderer. That is why Jesus was talking to a group of people, he said to them "you are like your father the devil, his desires you will do, he has been a murderer from the beginning." Now, the devil has been a murderer from the beginning, but the human murderer from the beginning is Cain.

 

So, the old murderer possessed the human murderer to pioneer killing people. So, when Abel was killed, was God happy? Who was happy? The devil! The one who was knocking at his door, who finally entered was happy. So, in that contest, Satan was enthroned in the life of Cain and at that time, Cain was the eldest son of Adam, and so, many people began on the earth as children of Cain whose father is the devil. And what does the devil do? He steals, he kills, he destroys. So, he became a natural thing for a man to steal, kill and destroy. Why? The devil is enthroned in the hearts of men. So, even though God had plans to be enthroned in the hearts of men and in the affairs of his people, so that he becomes the only one who listen to and they follow, Satan came and sold lies to them, and so they fell from their grace to the place where they now became subjects of Satan.

 

We remember in Genesis 1:26, God said "let us make man in our image." At the time when God was speaking that, Satan was already thrown to the earth. And God said "let them have dominion over everything that creeps on the earth and everything that flies in the air and over the earth." In fact, at a point God said have dominion over the earth, and yet, Satan was thrown to the earth. So originally, man was made in such a manner that Satan will be under man. That is why God told Cain, sin lies at your door, its desire is to have you, but you should rule over it. Because originally, you were meant to rule over sin. Later in the epistle of apostle Paul he said "Sin shall no longer have dominion over you." So, there is a reoccurrence. That sin that is having dominion over you is a personality, and that is Satan. Do we understand?

 

So, you are either enthroning God unknowingly or knowingly or you are enthroning Satan knowing or unknowingly. There is someone that you are enthroning, and the kind of life you will live is a product of who you enthroned in your affairs. I am sure we know who to enthrone, don't we? Now, let us go to Genesis 6 from verse 1.

 

"Now it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born to them, ² that the sons of God saw the daughters of men, that they were beautiful; and they took wives for themselves of all whom they chose. ³ And the Lord said, “My Spirit shall not strive ^[with man forever, for he is indeed flesh; yet his days shall be one hundred and twenty years.” ⁴ There were giants on the earth in those days, and also afterward, when the sons of God came in to the daughters of men and they bore children to them. Those were the mighty men who were of old, men of renown. ⁵ Then the Lord saw that the wickedness......"

 

Can we see that word 'wickedness'? Do we think men just wanted to be wicked? No! It was the spirit of wickedness. "Then the Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart....." Can we see that again? was only evil continually. ⁶ And the Lord was sorry that He had made man on the earth, and He was grieved in His heart. ⁷ So the Lord said, “I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth, both man and beast, creeping thing and birds of the air, for I am sorry that I have made them.” ⁸ But Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord."

 

I am sure some of us at certain times, we had computers or phones that got infected with virus. So, in those days, what did we do? We format! So, God created man, and we saw it, from Cain, we knew how when Abel was killed, God actually cursed Cain and gave him punishment. Yet Cain became a father and gave birth to children. At a point, Bible says the sons of God, some angelic beings, who had responsibility of watching over the earth, they saw the daughters of men that they were beautiful, and they took them wives and then, they got children through them. Bible says giants were born of them, mighty men. When this had happened, these angels who had fallen, those were the people Jude was writing about, angels who could not keep their primary abode, God has reserved the eternal punishment; this is where they sinned. They went beyond the place they were sent to by God and they became agents of corruption of the children of men.

 

The wives that they took, they began to teach these wives sorcery. They began to teach them all manners of witchcrafts and wizardry. So, their children were taller than other people, they were killing people, frustrating people, they became agents of darkness and they were oppressing other children of men. So, they were teaching them some terrible things, corrupting them, just like our days when everywhere you turned to on the internet, there is something always that is corrupting your eyes. So, in their own time, God thought it that the way things were going, it seems everyone was enthroning Satan; let me flash them. Let me format the earth. But the bible concludes in verse 8 that "Noah found grace in the sight of God." So, we knew that even though there came a time when the children of men became subject of the kingdom of darkness, a man was found by God to be righteous and he got mercy from God. So, God destroyed every other person except him.

 

So, we can see that right from Genesis chapter 1, chapter 3, chapter 4, chapter 6, there has been a kind of battle between Satan and God. He seems to have issues allowing the will of God to be done on the earth. So, if you now know this and still assumes that you are just living a normal life, paying your bills and living in your village, and you don't know that you are in-between two opposing forces and then you just live your life carelessly. For those who enthrones Satan in their hearts, see what happens there, God say He was going to destroy all, and we knew the story, they were all destroyed. So, let just jump forward again to see what happened after they were destroyed.

 

In Genesis 11:1-9, I will just read a few verses there.

 

"Now the whole earth had one language and one speech. ² And it came to pass, as they journeyed from the east, that they found a plain in the land of Shinar, and they dwelt there." The whole earth, you know, these are just the children of Noah. ³ Then they said to one another, “Come, let us make bricks and bake them thoroughly.” They had brick for stone, and they had asphalt for mortar. ⁴ And they said, “Come, let us build ourselves a city, and a tower whose top is in the heavens; let us make a name for ourselves, lest we be scattered abroad over the face of the whole earth.” ⁵ But the Lord came down to see the city and the tower which the sons of men had built. ⁶ And the Lord said, “Indeed the people are one and they all have one language, and this is what they begin to do; now nothing that they propose to do will be withheld from them. ⁷ Come, let Us go down and there confuse their language, that they may not understand one another’s speech.” ⁸ So the Lord scattered them abroad from there over the face of all the earth, and they ceased building the city. ⁹ Therefore its name is called Babel, because there the Lord confused the language of all the earth; and from there the Lord scattered them abroad over the face of all the earth.

 

I am sure when we read this, sometimes we side with the people and then we ask: why did God have to scatter them? Now, one is compelled to learn different languages because of that. Before it used to be one language. What is it that God saw that was wrong that made Him to scatter them? The Bible says "let God be true and every man a liar." It is important we begin to think; what is it that God saw? These people are one, that is what God said; and this thing that they begin to do, their oneness is producing it. Now, what happens please, when the whole world is in one place and is one, speaking one language, and the person who assumes rulership of the whole world is submitting to Satan, what happens to the whole children of men? Serious problem!

 

You see, the greatest challenge that Satan has today is in trying to amalgamate the entire world together, he has never succeeded. Now, they are talking about "One world religion", they have been working very hard, that is the current thing they are doing now. They want the whole world to have one religion, they also desire and pray and work hard to make sure the whole world have one language, one currency and everything. When you see the Romans, the Persian the Greeks trying to take over the whole world, what is it that the devil is trying to achieve through them? He is trying to gather together those who God has scattered. How many of us understands that the devil is not Omnipresent? For instance, the devil is not in two places at the same time. Of course, his angels can be in other places, but he himself is in one place at a time. So, he is limited.

 

Now, since he is limited, it is his strategy to rule from one headquarters. So, he decrees, and it becomes established throughout his kingdom. We still remember the story of the three Hebrew brothers. At a time when it looks as if the whole world was just under one person and so, a decree was sent out that only the image created by the king, everyone should bow to. The decree went to places, it came to Africa. If you don't bow, you will be killed. I don't if you understand? A scenario when even though it looks as if you are in Bwari, and somebody is in Russia, and is decreeing from there and saying if you don't obey it, you die here. Is it a normal thing? So, while the devil is working hard to centralize the whole thing, so that he can oppress the whole earth directly, God saw a need to scatter them.

 

So, do you know the greatest challenge of the devil now? It is to now come to different people, different nations, deceives them, manipulates them, spends a lot of time trying to gain one country or city at a time, as soon as he gains one, he goes to another one and try to gain it. So, he is doing it one by one, unlike then that he could have done it once. Do we see the wisdom of God? Yet, God is able to speak to every nation at the same time. God is able to command every nation at the same time, it is only God who has the capacity. Why did He need to scatter them, if He knew there would be trouble to get them? Wherever you are, God is with you. So, do we see what is going on? Satan wanted to become enthroned in the whole earth and so, God scattered it.

 

So, instead of it just being a kingdom under one king, it now became kingdoms. So, as they scatter, each one became a Lord over his own territory. Do we understand? That is why the Bible says "the kingdoms of men have become the kingdom of our God and of His Christ." From that time till date, the devil has not been able to gather the whole world together under one rulership. No matter what they try, it has not worked. Whether they call it EU, there will be Brexit, or they call is AU, there is always an issue. Why? Because God is not making it easy for Satan. He is hell-bent to frustrate the works of God, but God is not moved! It has not been easy for him. God is not perturbed, God is not confused.

 

That is why every time Satan came to God in the book of Job, Bible says God asked him: Satan, where are you coming from, where are from? Satan is always coming from somewhere. Bible says in Revelation 12, that Satan came to the earth with great wrath, because he knows his time is short. To coordinate evil around the world is not easy, and so, he needs to go to different places. So, you that you are in Bwari or in Nigeria, how conscious are you of the activities of Satan around the world? Have you also decided to side with him or you rather chose to be under the authority of the Most High God? See, when God destroyed the whole earth in Genesis, there was nobody that belong to Satan that was spared. What Satan does is to come back to look for somebody again and again to look for somebody in every generation.

 

Generation comes and go, but Satan seeks new recruits in every generation. So, would you also be a recruit of God or would you side with Satan? Would you be a member of the army of God in your own generation or you will rather work with Satan, and your end is defined, destruction. Because Satan has an end already determined in the book of Revelation, he will be bound in eternity in bottomless pit. Now, if you submit to him and you enthrone him in your heart; his will you will do. You can have fame while you are doing it, you can become popular. But at the end of your popularity, you are ending where he is ending. His end becomes your end.

 

Whereas if you side with the Lord Most High, where He is, you will be also. So, you cannot be in-between, you can't say "you are not serving God, you are not serving Satan, you are serving yourself." As you are serving yourself, you are serving Satan. That is the issue. I don't know any resolution that we have been having in our hearts, let us pray the resolution.
