Qualification for Inheritances and liftings in the kingdom does not just jump on believers, it begins with a posture of the heart which I call; “let me become a servant”. Why did I use such a phrase? I want us to begin this discussion from a statement made by the prodigal Son in the book of Luke 15 verse 19. It says; “I am no longer worthy to be called your son; make me like one of your hired servants.” And I want us to examine this statement very closely even with an open mind. I believe there is a wisdom the Holy Spirit will want us to glean from it.
The Bible says in Romans 3:23; “for all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.” So, the Prodigal son made a confession in his heart, see what he said; “I will set out and go back to my father and say to him; father I have sinned against you and against heaven” and then in addition to that, I will also say; “I am not worthy” Acknowledging that he has fallen short of the glory of God the Father.
The reason why some people will never step into their God ordained Inheritances is because they have had their consciences seared with hot iron. And the remedy to this is repentance. Often times we think repentance is only for people who are not born again. No, it’s not! See what repentance actually mean? It is a state of sincere regret or remorse. It means you have offended someone which you have come to admit. So, the state of admitting a fault, a wrong, a bad decision, is called repentance. And usually it puts the offender in a remorseful state or in a state of regret or guilt until the decision to make amends is being carried out. And usually such decision requires that the offender confesses it, by making apologies and be resolute to decease from such acts even in the future.
Jesus says offenses will come but woe to him through which it will come. Now let me state this categorically that; you carry a woe if you are an offender, or a transgressor, if you refuse to repent or confess or make amends. Have you wondered why your heart is so hardened these days that you can’t hear or follow the truth despite the words that keep coming to you? See the words Jesus spoke in Matthew 5:23-25. “Therefore, if thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there rememberest that thy brother hath ought against thee; 24 Leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift.”
Did you see that? Jesus wasn’t talking to unbelievers here. If you can bring gifts to the priest, then you must have some level of relationship with God. So, Whatever gift you have to display, what ever form of godliness you think you have, however religious you think you are, if you refuse to make amends, then you carry a woe. Some of people carry woes all around because they have taken a path of destruction and have refused to admit that they have fallen short of His glory. One of the quickest ways to know is that you will realize you have fall short of a glory in one way or the other, there is a gap, a lag, a space that needs to be filled then you need to reflect and introspect. What are the decisions I have made lately? What kind of activities have I engaged myself lately? Have I actually strayed out of the will of God?
It may be that you have offended or hurt someone, it may be that you have made a bad decision, it may be that you are even aware that a group of people are not happy with you, what you need is repentance. And It settles the issues of hardness of heart. And I want you to know that lack of repentance is resistance to the Holy Spirit. Never forget that out of the heart flows the issues of life and as we think in our heart so are we. So, he said; “I am no longer worthy to be called your son” I used to be your son but because of what I have done please take me as your servant.
Let the decision be left to the father to decide whether to put a ring on his finger, a crown on his head and wear him a purple rob or actually take him as a servant. Accept and acknowledge that you have sinned and have fallen short of His glory. This is the posture of the heart of the son who has admitted that he has transgressed. Shame, nakedness, poverty, frustration and ignorance is not far-fetched from people who fail to have this kind of posture or have refused to make this statement. The boy’s deliverance was not actually in the statement of how the servants in his father’s house were living.
His deliverance and victory came when he thought carefully about these words. He said; “I am no longer worthy.” This is what makes the difference. The ‘I am not worthy statement’. And this is where pride, hardheartedness and arrogance lie. He didn’t stop there he went further to say; “make me like one of your hired servants” does this not indicate a state of brokenness? It also shows that he was not expecting to be served but to serve, even though it was his father’s empire he came to a point where he became willing serve. Until a leader recognizes that he is meant to serve and not to be served, then he hasn’t gotten to a point where we can be used by God. And if you can’t be used by God what would your inheritance look like?
This clearly explains the heart of God, He is seeking men and women who will say Lord I am not worthy, I am not qualified, I just want to be your servant. Are you aware that you have sinned? Are you aware that you have fallen short of the glory of God? Are you aware that you are hurting people with your attitude? Are aware that you are simply saying I cannot be tamed or controlled? You must come to a place where you say Lord make me your servant because that is all what you need because taken the lowly seat of a servant is an automatic promotion to sonship and greatness. Acknowledging to Christ that you have sinned automatically makes you a new creation and a joint heir. But you must believe with your heart and confess with your mouth.
Your justification or condemnation is just a confession away. By so doing you have chosen the path of life. Except you take the path that leads to life, your destination may never be a pleasant one. And until you deliberately embrace and accept the invitation of Christ to serve humanity with whatever you have, you will never attain true success.
I believe you have learnt something!
