WHAT ARE YOU LIVING FOR

Purpose or Yourself?

Life really, can be distressing and boring if you are yet to connect with the real purpose of your existence. The world today maybe full of people, about 7.5billion of us I guess, but each and every one of us has been made and created to live for something. Whether you live here in Nigeria, or in the United States or you are probably far away Tristan Da Cunha in the South Atlantic; there is something God has sent you here, on earth; to achieve. It is that assignment, or that purpose that necessitates your being, that makes provision available for you anywhere you find yourself per time.

It is that assignment that determines how long you live or how short you live. Longevity of life is not premised on eating the best of meals or doing regular exercises; the moment God deems it fit that your life's purpose has been fulfilled, what He does is that He recalls you.

Jesus didn't live for so long, as some of you today would have loved to. He lived just for thirty-three and half years. But within that period of His existence, Jesus was able to carry out His purpose on earth. He fulfilled all that God wanted Him to fulfill, and then exit the earth. Now, some of you would think this way: Why will Jesus die at that a young age? Shouldn't He have lived longer than that and at least, enjoy the fruit of His labour? Well, human minds could be tempted to think this way. But the truth is, Jesus is currently at the right hand of the Father reaping the rewards of His short stay here on earth.

He has never at any point regretted it that He didn't live long. He came to the world, called certain people unto Himself, told them about His assignment and death; and then handed over to them at the appropriate time. A man's life can be short and purposeful, another man's life can be long and purposeless. At 33 and half years old, Jesus was already done; and Methuselah lived 969, and I don't remember him; until the time I am writing this piece. But I think about Jesus every day.

The question then is: what are you living for right now? If God recalls you today, how well can you give account of your stay here on earth? I know many people struggle with purpose today. As a matter of fact; the lack of walking in purpose is simply because many are yet to find out or are tired looking for what it is that they are specifically meant to do or be doing. Many people have crafted for themselves today, purposes that are outside of God's purpose for their lives.

Saul of Tarsus for example, initially thought what he was doing was for God. He thought he was serving God's purpose by eliminating Christians until Jesus intercepted him on his way to Damascus. He was a Jew to the core and was vast in the law of Moses. In Philippians 3:4b- 5, he described himself thus: "If anyone else thinks he may have confidence in the flesh, I more so: circumcised the eight day, of the stock of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew of the Hebrews; concerning the law, a Pharisee..." He was one of the people who initially believed Jesus' ministry was against the norm and therefore; he was all out never to let that message stand.

The day Jesus met him was the day Paul got the original purpose of God for his life. What you are living for today, can God reckon with it as His divine purpose for your life? On the day you would give account of your stewardship, won't you be rather surprised that you have lived for yourself in life; and have abandon the real thing that God has written concerning you?

There is so much joy that greets your heart each day you wake up knowing you are living for the right cause. Apostle Paul wrote succinctly that for him to live is Christ, and if he dies in the process, it is gain. This is an example of a man who had a clear understanding why he was raised. So, when you hear that people die, the first thing that comes to your mind is an examination of how the person lived his or her life. There are many who die today and people don't get to read about them or know them, simply because there is really no specific thing that could be traced to them. In other words, such people never lived for anything that could live on, even while they are no more.

What you do with your life now would determine whether you will be remembered or not once you exit this earth. Jesus lived 2018 years ago, but we still talk about Him today; centuries after. There are many who had died in our contemporary times; that we still read and talk about them. The reason for this is because they lived their lives for purpose, and we that are still alive could identify them with that purpose. Know this for sure; that it is your purpose that is still keeping you alive. Once your purpose is fulfilled, then home beckons.

May God help us all to live a purposeful life, Amen!

Word of Confession: (Optional)

Lord Jesus, I confess to you that I have sinned against the LORD God - in the rebellion of my heart, I have disappointed your expectations on my life. I have fallen from Your grace and followed wrong influences around me. Today, I retrace my steps back to you - and I ask that in your mercy you accept me as your son and give to me (again) the promise of the Father - the Holy Spirit. Lord Jesus, please, come and make my heart your home, and from there rule in the affairs of all men. In Jesus Name I have prayed.

Living for God What Are You Living For Purpose or Yourself? WhatAreYouLivin

If you are intentional about being found in Christ fully persuaded such as to suffer the loss of all things and counting them as rubbish for the purpose of conforming to His death yet seeing it as a privilege given by grace not of self-righteousness which is according to law, then you have found the pathway to experiencing the power of His resurrection and becoming one with the excellence of His knowledge.
