STRATEGIC ALLIANCES TOWARDS PURPOSE AND DESTINY FULFILMENT

Discover Three Strategic Relationships You Require to Fulfill Your Purpose

Listen To Podcast: Strategic Alliances Towards Purpose And Destiny Fulfillment

In this piece, we are going to be considering something that is an offshoot of last week’s message (Purpose, Placement and Destiny Fulfilment), and it has been titled: Strategic Alliances Towards Purpose and Destiny Fulfilment. One of the things that God specializes in doing is bringing us into strategic alliances or associations or relationships or companies that would help us towards the fulfillment of our God-given purpose. If you read Luke 1:39-45, it shows us how God strategically brings us into some of these alliances towards the fulfillment of His purpose for our lives. The Bible says:

Now Mary arose in those days and went into the hill country with haste, to a city of Judah [this was after the angel had spoken to her concerning her and the next phase of her life in the purpose of God for her life], 40 and entered the house of Zacharias and greeted Elizabeth. 41 And it happened, when Elizabeth heard the greeting of Mary, that the babe leaped in her womb; and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit.” There is something I believe we must take cognizance of in these two verses that we have just read.

NB

“If you are in a strategic alliance with somebody, especially in the purpose of God, and the Holy Spirit is not there to witness to that alliance, then it may be an indication that you are not in the right alliance for the fulfilment of that purpose. The Holy Spirit must be a witness that God wants you to be in that relationship for His glory. And this is what happened between Mary and Elizabeth.”

42 Then she spoke out with a loud voice and said, “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb! 43 But why is this granted to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me? In my spirit, I helped Elizabeth to answer this vital question that she has raised: THE ANSWER IS PURPOSE! 44 For indeed, as soon as the voice of your greeting sounded in my ears, the babe leaped in my womb for joy. 45 Blessed is she who believed, for there will be a fulfillment of those things which were told her from the Lord.”

So, in order to fulfill our God-given purpose, God brings us into strategic alliances, relationships and companies that would help us to do that, and this evening, we are going to be considering three (3) of those strategic alliances.

MARRIAGE

The first strategic alliance towards purpose and destiny fulfilment is found in marriage. Because of the nature of your purpose and destiny, God will bring your way the kind of man, the kind of woman who would help you to fulfill it. Let us go back to Genesis 2:15, 18-25. The Bible says:

“Then the Lord God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to tend and keep it.” Eden is the garden of God, a place where He put the man He has created to fulfill His purpose. In Ezekiel 31:9, the Bible says: “I made it beautiful with a multitude of branches, so that all the trees of Eden envied it, that were in the garden of God.” One of the things we said last week is that purpose is place-specific and that God will rightly put you where He wants you to fulfill His purpose.

18And the Lord God said, “It is not good that man should be alone; I will make him a helper comparable to him.” For the first time in the creation story, we are seeing a place where God is saying or attesting to the fact that “something is not good” because every other thing that God had created got the verdict of being good. If you go back to Genesis 1:31a, the Bible says: Then God saw everything that He had made, and indeed it was very good.”

19 Out of the ground the Lord God formed every beast of the field and every bird of the air, and brought them to Adam to see what he would call them. And whatever Adam called each living creature, that was its name. 20 So Adam gave names to all cattle, to the birds of the air, and to every beast of the field. But for Adam there was not found a helper comparable to him. 21 And the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall on Adam, and he slept; and He took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh in its place. 22 Then the rib which the Lord God had taken from man He made into a woman, and He brought her to the man. 23 And Adam said: “This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called woman, because she was taken out of man.” 24 Therefore a man [the word ‘man’ as used here is a generic term (referring to both the male and the female gender)] shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.”

Marriage is strategic in the fulfilment of our God-given purpose. As a matter of fact, there are certain things you may not be able to do alone in the purpose of God for your life until God brings you into the union of marriage. There are four fundamental reasons I believe God wants man to marry.

4 Fundamental Reasons I believe God wants US to marry

#1. The very first of those reasons is rooted in companionship. God said in Genesis 2:18 (AMP): “Now the LORD God said, “it is not good (beneficial) for the man to be alone; I will make him a helper [one who balances him – a counterpart who is] suitable and complementary for him.” From here, we can clearly see that God instituted marriage for: for mutual benefit, for balancing and for complementarity. Another Scripture that helps us to put more light into this is in Ecclesiastes 4:9-12. The Bible says:

“Two are better than one,
Because they have a good reward for their labor.
10 For if they fall, one will lift up his companion.
But woe to him who is alone when he falls,
For he has no one to help him up.
11 Again, if two lie down together, they will keep warm;
But how can one be warm alone?
12 Though one may be overpowered by another, two can withstand him.
And a threefold cord is not quickly broken.”

#2. The second reason God wants us to marry is that our marriage is meant to fulfill a strategic mission of God on the earth! And that mission is that our marriage should show the kind of love that exists between Christ and the church. Our marriage is supposed to be an epitome of that loving, unconditional love between Christ and His church. Ephesians 5:31-32, the Bible says: “For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.” 32 This is a great mystery, but I speak concerning Christ and the church.”

#3. The third reason God wants us to marry is that God’s purpose for man is that we dominate the earth. This dominion mandate is embedded in the institution of marriage. If you read Genesis 1:26-28, the Bible says:

“Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” 27 So God created man in His own image; in the image of God, He created him; male and female He created them. 28 Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”

#4. The fourth reason I believe that God wants us to marry is so that we can raise godly offspring. We marry so that we can fill the earth with godly offspring. Malachi 2:15 says:

But did He not make them one,
Having a remnant of the Spirit?
And why one?
He seeks godly offspring.
Therefore take heed to your spirit,
And let none deal treacherously with the wife of his youth.

So, the first strategic alliance that God brings us into in order to fulfill our God-given purpose is marriage.

Now, somebody may think: Is it compulsory that I marry before the purpose of God for my life can be fulfilled? Can’t I choose not to marry and still fulfill the purpose of God, after all, apostle Paul did not marry, Jesus Christ also, did not marry. Well, the only answer to this is if the Lord has specifically commanded you to remain single in order for you to fulfill the said purpose of God, that is the only time you can choose not to consider marriage. I am going to show you two Scriptures to that effect.

1 Corinthians 7:6-9; 25-28

“But I say this as a concession, not as a commandment. 7 For I wish that all men were even as I myself. But each one has his own gift from God, one in this manner and another in that. 8 But I say to the unmarried and to the widows: It is good for them if they remain even as I am; 9 but if they cannot exercise self-control, let them marry. For it is better to marry than to burn with passion.” 25 Now concerning virgins: I have no commandment from the Lord; yet I give judgment as one whom the Lord in His mercy has made trustworthy. 26 I suppose therefore that this is good because of the present distress—that it is good for a man to remain as he is: 27 Are you bound to a wife? Do not seek to be loosed. Are you loosed from a wife? Do not seek a wife. 28 But even if you do marry, you have not sinned; and if a virgin marries, she has not sinned. Nevertheless, such will have trouble in the flesh, but I would spare you.”

Matthew 19:11-12

But He said to them, “All cannot accept this saying, but only those to whom it has been given: 12 For there are eunuchs who were born thus from their mother’s womb, and there are eunuchs who were made eunuchs by men, and there are eunuchs who have made themselves eunuchs for the kingdom of heaven’s sake. He who is able to accept it, let him accept it.”

So, what was Paul and Jesus saying in essence? For you to think that you don’t need marriage to fulfill the mandate of God for your life, then it must be that your purpose in life demands it and that God has commanded you to do so. But aside from these two things, it is God’s purpose that you and I get married in order to fulfill His purpose for our lives.

PARTNERSHIP

Another strategic alliance that God brings us into in order to fulfill our purpose is seen in partnership. Jesus could not have done everything He wanted to do on earth in thirty-three and half years without the right partnership. In Luke 9:1-6, the Bible says:

“Then He called His twelve disciples together and gave them power and authority over all demons, and to cure diseases. 2 He sent them to preach the kingdom of God and to heal the sick. 3 And He said to them, “Take nothing for the journey, neither staffs nor bag nor bread nor money; and do not have two tunics apiece. 4 “Whatever house you enter, stay there, and from there depart. 5 And whoever will not receive you, when you go out of that city, shake off the very dust from your feet as a testimony against them.” 6 So they departed and went through the towns, preaching the gospel and healing everywhere.”

For us to be able to fulfill the purpose of God, there are times we might need to go into strategic partnership as we are instructed by God.

“Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying: 2 “See, I have called by name Bezalel the son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah. 3 And I have filled him with the Spirit of God, in wisdom, in understanding, in knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship, 4 to design artistic works, to work in gold, in silver, in bronze, 5 in cutting jewels for setting, in carving wood, and to work in all manner of workmanship. 6 “And I, indeed I, have appointed with him Aholiab the son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan; and I have put wisdom in the hearts of all the gifted artisans, that they may make all that I have commanded you: 7 the tabernacle of meeting, the ark of the Testimony and the mercy seat that is on it, and all the furniture of the tabernacle— 8 the table and its utensils, the pure gold lampstand with all its utensils, the altar of incense, 9 the altar of burnt offering with all its utensils, and the laver and its base— 10 the garments of ministry, the holy garments for Aaron the priest and the garments of his sons, to minister as priests, 11 and the anointing oil and sweet incense for the holy place. According to all that I have commanded you they shall do.”

Exodus 31:1-11

FRIENDSHIP

Another strategic alliance that God can bring us into in order to fulfill our purpose and destiny can be seen in friendship. There are some friends that God would bring your way that all that they care about is how they can see that you fulfill the purpose of God. They are not envious of your purpose, they are not threatened by your purpose, they are just there in your life so that they can see to the actualization of that God’s purpose. An example is David and Jonathan, in 1 Samuel 23:14-18. The Bible says:

“And David stayed in strongholds in the wilderness, and remained in the mountains in the Wilderness of Ziph. Saul sought him every day, but God did not deliver him into his hand. 15 So David saw that Saul had come out to seek his life. And David was in the Wilderness of Ziph in a forest. 16 Then Jonathan, Saul’s son, arose and went to David in the woods and strengthened his hand in God. 17 And he said to him, “Do not fear, for the hand of Saul my father shall not find you. You shall be king over Israel, and I shall be next to you. Even my father Saul knows that.” 18 So the two of them made a covenant before the Lord. And David stayed in the woods, and Jonathan went to his own house.”

So, you must be discerning enough to choose your friends wisely. It is not everyone that is capable enough to be your friends. You need to carefully select who your friends are, those that are not in line with God’s purpose of course, are not qualified to be one.

I pray that the Lord will help us in Jesus’ name.

Word of Confession: (Optional)

Lord Jesus, I confess to you that I have sinned against the LORD God - in the rebellion of my heart, I have disappointed your expectations on my life. I have fallen from Your grace and followed wrong influences around me. Today, I retrace my steps back to you - and I ask that in your mercy you accept me as your son and give to me (again) the promise of the Father - the Holy Spirit. Lord Jesus, please, come and make my heart your home, and from there rule in the affairs of all men. In Jesus Name I have prayed.
