WALKING IN THE LIGHT OF THE WISDOM OF GOD PT. 2

Examining the Multifaceted Wisdom of God

Last week, the Lord helped us to begin a journey into examining Walking in The Light of The Wisdom of God. And because of time, we stopped at a particular place, which is where we are going to continue from today, and I trust the Holy Spirit to help us bring everything to a beautiful conclusion this evening. So, since we are examining the Wisdom of God, and we have already established last week, four kinds of Wisdom, it is important that we examine the characteristics of God's Wisdom so that we can know what it is and how we can position ourselves into properly walking in them.

Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show by good conduct that his works are done in the meekness of Wisdom. 14 But if you have bitter envy and self-seeking in your hearts, do not boast and lie against the truth. 15 This Wisdom does not descend from above, but is earthly, sensual, demonic. 16 For where envy and self-seeking exist, confusion and every evil thing are there. 17 But the Wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy.

James 3:15-17

  • Purity: The Wisdom of God is Pure

The Wisdom of God is pure. It is not or cannot be associated with anything that is not pure. What many people call Wisdom in the world today are laced with so much impurities and you begin to wonder if God can really minister such Wisdom to them. For example, there are many people today who will bypass the systems that has been put in place to guarantee accountability, and they will call it Wisdom. For instance, how do you explain believers who bypass systems and authorities put in place for accountability sake. Such a Wisdom cannot be inspired by the Holy Spirit and so, it is no longer pure.

Any Wisdom that will make you bypass instituted authorities cannot have emanated from God. Jesus said in Matthew 5:8. It says: "Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God." The Wisdom of God keeps your heart pure and it removes every form of impurity far from it. But the Wisdom of this world will corrupt your heart and draw it away from God.

  • Peace: The Wisdom of God is Peaceable

The Wisdom of God is peaceable, and not troublesome. AS a child of God, you cannot boast in the fact that you are a troublemaker. Have you heard people say something like: “Even though I am a Christian, I don’t take rubbish, if you give me trouble, I will double it back for you?” Any kind of Wisdom that would bring about trouble and not peace definitely is not from God. Jesus said in John 14:27: "Peace I leave with you (Not trouble), My peace I give to you (Not my trouble); not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid." If you are the type of believer who goes about looking for trouble, definitely you are not operating in the Wisdom of God. If you are the type that anywhere troubles happen in the neighborhood or community, your name must definitely be mentioned, then you aren't operating in the Wisdom of God.

One of the proofs of God's Wisdom operating in your life is the kind of peace that surrounds you, such that people can look at you and say, “that man is a man of peace, that woman is a woman of peace.” That exactly is the Wisdom of God.

  • Gentle: The Wisdom of God is Gentle

The Wisdom of God is gentle, and not arrogant. In Isaiah 53:7, the Bible said concerning Jesus:

He was oppressed and He was afflicted,
Yet He opened not His mouth;
He was led as a lamb to the slaughter,
And as a sheep before its shearers is silent,
So He opened not His mouth.

That was the height of gentility there being displayed by Jesus. Jesus could have decided to go to war with the religious folks of His days and probably purchase weapons for His twelve disciples and ask the angels of God to come support Him in the battle against the people that will not allow the children of Israel to hear the message of the kingdom. Look at what Jesus said in Matthew 26 from verse 52-54: “But Jesus said to him, “Put your sword in its place, for all who take the sword will perish by the sword. 53 Or do you think that I cannot now pray to My Father, and He will provide Me with more than twelve legions of angels? 54 How then could the Scriptures be fulfilled, that it must happen thus?”

Jesus could have evaded arrest, used His Mighty power to escape from the hands of his captors and ask the legions of angels to defend Him. But He did not do that. Jesus was gentle even to the point of death. What am I trying to say here? The Wisdom of God is displayed in the highest form of gentility and not arrogance. Now, I don’t want you to get me wrong here. I am not saying that you should be gentle in the face of something that is about to hurt you or cause physical harm to you. The fact that Jesus was gentle to the point of death was simply because His purpose in life requires it. If there is anything that could pose a potential harm to you or yours, and you have the opportunity to defend yourself, kindly do. Don’t stay gentle.

If the devil is trying to mesmerize with your health or threatening you in one way or the other, it is not the time to be gentle, it is time to stage a spiritual warfare against him. The Scripture says “whom you resist steadfastly in the faith.” You will have to resist him and fight back; such is not the time to be gentle and thinking “you are operating in the Wisdom of God.” I believe we understood the point.

  • Yielding: The Wisdom of God leads you to yield unto good and righteous things

It takes Wisdom to yield unto righteousness. There are many today who have yielded themselves to unrighteous acts and have allowed themselves to be used by the devil. Romans 6:16-17 says: “Do you not know that to whom you present yourselves slaves to obey, you are that one’s slaves whom you obey, whether of sin leading to death, or of obedience leading to righteousness? 17 But God be thanked that though you were slaves of sin, yet you obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine to which you were delivered.” That means to yield oneself to God and everything that has to do with goodness, righteousness is Wisdom.

  • Mercy: The Wisdom of God is evidenced in Mercy

Wisdom brings about mercy! There is the place of judgment, but the Wisdom of God allows one to rightly dispense the right judgment. When Solomon asked the Lord for an understanding heart to be able to rightly lead the people of God, God in turn gave him Wisdom in order to be able to dispense judgment and mercy. See what the Bible says concerning him in 2 Chronicles 1:10-12.

“Now give me Wisdom and knowledge, that I may go out and come in before this people; for who can judge this great people of Yours?” 11 Then God said to Solomon: “Because this was in your heart, and you have not asked riches or wealth or honor or the life of your enemies, nor have you asked long life—but have asked Wisdom and knowledge for yourself, that you may judge My people over whom I have made you king— 12 Wisdom and knowledge are granted to you; and I will give you riches and wealth and honor, such as none of the kings have had who were before you, nor shall any after you have the like.”

Did we see that? With God’s Wisdom, one would be able to judge rightly. The Bible says “prove all things and hold fast to that which is truth.” How do you then prove all things? It is through the Wisdom of God. The Wisdom of God puts you in a position to look at matters and then judge rightly. Solomon’s first task was to dispense judgment between two women over a child. I believe we all know the story! Two nursing mothers lived in the same home, and they happen to give birth at the same time. One overlaid on her child in the course of the night and killing the child in the process. When she discovered what her error was, she went and exchanged the child with the other woman’s child, claiming the dead child was not hers.

Fortunately for them, the matter got to the king. After careful examinations, king Solomon was able, through the Wisdom of God and the facts being presented, to recognize the original mother of the living child. This is what the Wisdom of God doesit gives you the ability to be able to dispense judgment rightly.

Other characteristics of God's Wisdom include:

  • Good fruits: The Wisdom of God makes you produce fruits unto righteousness
  • The Wisdom of God is not partial
  • The Wisdom of God is not found with hypocrisy

Understanding the Multifaceted Wisdom of God

"So now through the church the multifaceted Wisdom of God [in all its countless aspects] might now be made known [revealing the mystery] to the [angelic] rulers and authorities in the heavenly places."

Ephesians 3:10 (AMP)

The Wisdom of God is broad and beyond the imagination of any mortal man, except it was revealed. There are dimensions of God that is beyond human comprehension except it be revealed by the Spirit of God. Romans 11:33-36 shows us a how deep the Wisdom and the knowledge of God is. It says:

"Oh, the depth of the riches and Wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and decisions and how unfathomable and untraceable are His ways! 34 For who has known the mind of the Lord, or who has been His counselor? 35 Or who has first given to Him that it would be paid back to him? 36 For from Him [all things originate] and through Him [all things live and exist] and to Him are all things [directed]. To Him be glory and honor forever! Amen."

God is so big and Mighty that you cannot box Him up. You cannot limit the knowledge and the operations of God into what religion or any other thing have thought you about God. Knowing God is through personal revelation and not through religious practices or dogmatism. Apostle Paul said that "I may know Him." Notice he did not say “that I may be taught by religion.” As a matter of fact, everything that religion taught him about the knowledge of God became some of the greatest mistakes of his life. So, when he found God, he decided to know Him by revelation and not by “hear say.” Majority of us today have allowed religion to teach us about the ways and operations of God and so, we have been limited by that knowledge alone. We have not allowed the Holy Spirit to reveal to us the other dimensions of God.

I believe it’s a good time to pray: Let’s pray and say “Dear heavenly Father, please reveal to me through your Spirit all your multifaceted Wisdom. I choose to walk in the light of your Wisdom from now henceforth, in deeper dimensions like never before.” I believe we are praying!

Word of Confession: (Optional)

Lord Jesus, I confess to you that I have sinned against the LORD God - in the rebellion of my heart, I have disappointed your expectations on my life. I have fallen from Your grace and followed wrong influences around me. Today, I retrace my steps back to you - and I ask that in your mercy you accept me as your son and give to me (again) the promise of the Father - the Holy Spirit. Lord Jesus, please, come and make my heart your home, and from there rule in the affairs of all men. In Jesus Name I have prayed.
