Trembling Leadership

TREMBLING LEADERSHIP
The Worst in Uncertainties

We live in times on unstable and highly competitive market situations; the economies of nations are weak then speculated - more goods and services chasing fewer people, resulting in fall in prices and slow growth and revenue. Nations across the world are facing strict economic, political and security conditions.

It has been said that in the face of intense uncertainties and changes, more leaders are needed than managers. It therefore means that the biggest need of our time across the nations of the earth is not new discoveries of natural resources or climate change or new companies. What is most needed is a new form of leadership.

It has also been said that there are many leaders, but too few leadership. Thus, being called or designated a leader or being positioned in a leadership structure does not make any man or woman a leader. True leadership is beyond titles or positions; any leadership that does not translate into better, safer, surer, bolder, richer and healthier lives for the people is not a true leadership.

Sometime ago in ancient Israel, a new king was appointed by the people; he was actually their "perfect choice"! In the course of his coronation, Samuel (who was the Priest) instructed him to wait for him at Gilgal for seven days for a necessary burnt and peace offering to God for the establishment of the new kingdom. While the Priest delayed, on the seventh day, when their nation was attacked by an enemy nation; the people began to tremble and were scattered all over in fear.

Then, the king decided to do what only the priest should do - offer burnt sacrifices to God! Just as he concluded the offerings; the priest came.

One thing then becomes clear, leaders that fail to inspire confidence and boldness in their people during adversities or uncertainties; will become inspired towards fear, anxiety and doubts of their people.

It has been said that people do what people see; but the flip is, leaders that refuse to show their people what to see, will end up doing whatever they see in their people. Such leadership surely becomes loose in focus and vision - uncoordinated in influence.

It is indeed evil to be a trembling leader of a trembled people.

You can find the story in the book of 1 Samuel 13:1-15

Word of Confession: (Optional)

Lord Jesus, I confess to you that I have sinned against the LORD God... In Jesus Name I have prayed.
Did you MISS an opportunity (occasion) to SIN against God yesterday, when it appeared as though you would die if you do not COMMIT it? Since then, have you died? Have you not actually moved on? In reality, the decision to REFUSE sin is not what KILLS, but the decision to ALLOW sin. How are you RESPONDING to SIN today? Are you ALLOWING or REFUSING sin?
