The big mistake people make in relationship with God, the Giver, will show you why many stop too early in their Christian journey.
Often times when people are in need of anything; money, jobs, businesses, spouses, children, cars, Houses, admissions, and the likes, they come before God soberly. They will pray, fast, sing songs, lie down, make vows, sow seeds, and do all manner of things just to get this favour from the hand of the Lord.
But here is the issue and impression many end up picturing before the Giver, both in the past and in the now; the moment the door is opened to them from the Lord, and the gift comes into their hands — they needed money, jobs, spouses, businesses, contracts... and in the mercies of God, they now have them— but because God has answered their cries, THEY HAVE NOW REPLACED THE GIVER WITH THE GIFT IN THEIR LIVES.
Many will even tell you, hummmmmmm, no time oooo, since I got the job, since I got married, things are no more the same, I no long have enough time to do my spiritual affairs like before. The time to pray is barely enough not to talk of time to study and meditate in the WORD.
Oh man, who are you deceiving? The last blessing you got from the Lord is just an entrance, that's not all that the Lord has in mind for you. Why are you stopping yourself from enjoying the fullness that is in Him for you? No Divine flow is ever the end of the experience, just as our ultimate gift is eternal life, so are our blessings.
Certainly, the intention of the Giver is not so that the gift should come to replace the GIVER but to be a witness to the love of the GIVER in your life. Don't pick the gift and turn your back on the giver rather let His blessings in your life be channels to desire Him more.
See what the Bible says John chapter 10 verse 10: "The thief comes only to rob, kill, and destroy. I came so everyone would have life, and have it fully."
The promise is life to the fullest, don't stop at the gate and settle there, there are more to experience in Him when we move on and keep our place in Him. No matter how beautiful a door is, the Glory is little compared to the enjoyments inside. At the door or gate, you could be beaten by the sun, dirty by the wind and storm. No page of spiritual phases in our relationship with God is sufficient enough for us to dwell for too long.
Water will begin to stink when it is too long in a place. Keep moving on, in Faith towards the ultimate goal, it is an endless life — endless experience, new every morning.
PEACE BE UNTO YOU!
