In the body of Christ, we are all members of His body, not the owner, nor is any of us a co-owner of the members. Every one of us is a member doing function for the body according to how Him, the Owner of the body, has allocated function to every individual member; like the leg for instance to do the function of walking, the eyes to do the function of seeing, the ears to do the hearing, the skin to protect the internal organs of the body, etc. None of the human parts allocated its function to itself. In same way, in the body of Christ, every one of us do function for God according to its placement, gift, and Grace. None of us, the members, has the right to apportion to another member of the body any function according to needs. No, not even as small as telling the hand to sweep the floor. There is no man of God that has the right to make you an evangelist if that's not what Christ has fashioned out for you, don't accept it, it is not a rebellion, you are only avoiding to be guilty though busy.
For as the body is one and has many members, but all the members of that one body, being many, are one body, so also is Christ. For by one Spirit, we were all baptized into one body— whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free—and have all been made to drink into one Spirit. For in fact the body is not one member but many. (I Corinthians 12:12-14).
You are unique in the program of God, you have been fashioned to do a particular thing, not everything, nor the way you choose to do what you are called to do. God will not reward you for singing very well in your lifetime all over Nations of the world, if your function were to be a charity worker to impact the life of orphans, or a business man or woman to influence lives through trading.
Dear, who you are is not just about what anyone decided to start calling you, nor is it about the function you found easy to do in your local assembly, nor what you notice as a talent that you have. No! Go back to Him. Doing a particular job maybe because you have the talent/ability, or academic training, if it is for the sake of what you will eat and drink and probably to settle your bills; it is fine, but it is not the same as serving the purpose or Will of God for your life in your generation. Our jobs are not in any way substitutes for His Will for us in our generations. All of us are not, and must not be pulpit ministers; pastors, prophets, revivalist, teachers, or apostles, yet none of us is without a designated role in the Will of God to function in as member of the body of Christ.
Every part of our human body does not struggle to know its function, and the reason is simple. The mouth knows it is an organ of speech, and food supportive agent, and it does its daily functions because it is planted at that strategic location to do so. What do u think it would happen to the mouth if it goes about, busying up and down, seeking for where to go, food to eat, what to do or say to be able to pay its bills, will it ever know its function? Would it not become a wasteful resource upon the earth? Would it not be confused complaining up and down, and asking people if there have anything for it to do at least to have food and water to drink? Imagine the same mouth that God had already positioned, and ordered other parts of the body to feed it conveniently given to irresponsive life? May such episode not be your portion and mine in Jesus’ name.
Many people say they don't know how to find the will of God for their lives, but the first question to ask is this so that our case don't be like the dismembered mouth that would go about the streets looking for something else to do, while everything has been made ready in the body for it, are you traceable in Christ Jesus? Had Jesus found you in Him, and He had not shown you why you are in Him?
See what the Bible say,
I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser. Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit. You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you. Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me. “I am the Vine; you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing. (John 15:1-5, NKJV.)
Do you notice what Jesus said in the verses: "Every branch in Me?"
It is not everyone that is busy seeking for the function of their lives from job to job, denomination to denomination, market to market. No! But everyone that abides in Him, the Christ.
CHRIST is our body, except we have gone to Him, not by lips service, to abide in Him, be engrafted in Him, we can't find the use for us. No! Not even the strongest of us can. Men can assign any function to you, if you make yourself available in a denomination or religion, yet if that is not what Christ has fashioned you for, it is eternal waste of life, purpose, and destiny.
Remember the Word of Jesus, "Not everyone that says to me Lord, Lord will enter the Kingdom of heaven but only those who do the Will of my Father that is in heaven". Except the Work you do, the service you do in the name of the Lord is what you have been given to do, there is no eternal commendation for it. Except I have done in Christ what is allocated to me in Him, my life on the earth is but for nothing.
Also, one of the biggest mistakes we make in the body of Christ today is the popular believe that once a man is called a pastor, the wife is automatically a "Pastor Mrs”. This is not always so, except the Lord Himself out of His share of His eternal Will ordained a minister's spouse for same function in His body such is not.
Look at when the Lord God was speaking concerning Abraham, He said, “Look unto Abraham your father, and unto Sarah that bare you; for when he was but one, I called him, and I blessed him, and made him many”. He didn't drop Sarah aside because he was called alone, but the dealings of God with Abraham weren’t the same with her. Isaac is both a son of Abraham and mother Sarah, but God didn't ask both of them to go and sacrifice him together — the calling was a share ticket. It was same journey from the start, but different experience.
As anointed as prophet Samuel was, he didn't ordain his wife as an assistant judge or priest, nor as the financial treasurer of the Lord’s temple, because she was not called for same reason. Look at the lifestyle of the apostles of old; Peter didn't use his will power to enthrone his wife to seat of influence. No! Everyone among them function according to the assigned gift of Grace. At a point when James, one of the sons of Mary and Joseph, was heading the Church in Jerusalem, Peter didn’t drag it, because that was not what he was call for.
A divine call of Christ into any of the fivefold ministry of one’s spouse is not a share ticket for the other, nor is it an automatic ticket for the other. To become one flesh is not same as to become one spirit. No, even if it will be, it is not automatic. Except we function according to our placement and purpose there will be great artificial spiritual scarcity in the body of Christ in our generation. The hand should not be forced or convinced into doing the work of the eyes, each of us has its own specific proper gift where he or she is required to minister grace to the body unto edification.
Guide other believers to discover their placement and function in Christ Jesus if you have discovered yours, it is not in any man's power to distribute roles or functions to the members of the body of Christ in the Kingdom. Every one of us is planted in Christ by the effectual working of the Holy Spirit.
Dear, I fear this one thing: our strength, agitation, and eloquence will finish one day, and we will be left to Him that's Lord of lords to decide what shall be our reward, no matter how we are wise, on that day, we will be made to listen to Him and Him alone; to be judged and rewarded according to Him. Knowing that it is a fearful thing to fall into the hand of the Living God, why not obey His Will for you now that you are still living in your strength? Submit to Him, His Will for you, less we come into condemnation having spent our lives according to our likes and dislikes on the face of the earth.
