And the Lord said: “I have surely seen the oppression of my people who are in Egypt, and have heard their cry because of their taskmasters, for or I know their sorrows. So I have come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up from that land to a good and large land, to a land flowing with milk and honey, to the place of the Canaanites and the Hittite and the Amorites and the Perizzites and the Hivites and the Jebusites. Now therefore, behold, the cry of the children of Israel has come to Me, and I have also seen the oppression with which the Egyptians oppress them. Come now, therefore, and I will send you to Pharaoh that you may bring my people, the children of Israel, out of Egypt.”
Exodus 3:7-10
When God began showing the pathetic state of the people to Moses; one would have thought that there was no place for Moses in what God came to do. Remember, God said that He heard the cry of the people; and He has come down to solve their problems. The question then is, “If God has come down to solve the problems of mankind, what else is expected of men?” While what God wanted to accomplish wasn’t vague; however, since He had come down personally for the same problem; why then is a man required, needed or wanted?
“But this is a people robbed and plundered;
all of them are snared in holes,
and they are hidden in prison houses;
they are for prey, and no one delivers;
for plunder, and no one says “Restore!”. Isaiah 42:22
No one delivers, no one says, “Restore!” is not addressing Angels; but humans. A people robbed and plundered - their experience; although unpleasant, will continue until a man rise up to speak for or over the people. Even though God sees them in their bondage or oppression; He is waiting for a man or woman to rise up above the difficulty to speak out for the libration, empowerment and revival of a people or nation. What a situation! Men are waiting for (not on) God; God is looking and waiting for men!
“How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed?
And how shall they believe in whom they have not heard?
And how shall they hear without a preacher?
And how shall they preach unless they are sent?..... Romans 10:14-15
The salvation of the people is hanging on the shoulder of preachers. The progress, impartation, and hope of the people hang on the shoulders of men and women so-called by God to provide solutions to the numerous problems, challenges or situations of the people.
So, a people can have God and still be in pain or challenges. Their problem isn’t the absence of God; but the absence of men and women who could respond to God’s call or invitation or assignment for their lives. To be a solution to the problem of a people therefore; a man must be called – invited to join God in a place for a given task; and must function where, when and how called.
Doing the work of ministry without a divine invitation could be an invitation of disaster actually; however, doing a different thing in ministry from your assignment is also disastrous. To be effective in ministry, a man or woman must answer God’s call and function as called by God on a daily basis. If God invites you into a teaching task; respond and do the work of teaching. If God calls you into the medical task; respond and function as called. Remember, to whom much is given, much is required (expected). May God’s grace rest on your shoulders this day – and your ministry shall be easy in Jesus name. Amen!
