THE MEANING, PERSONALITY AND SIGNIFICANCE OF AMEN IN THE KINGDOM OF GOD

How We Must Seal in the Kingdom

Listen To Podcast: The Meaning, Personality And Significance of AMEN In The Kingdom of God

In this piece, we will be looking at the word Amen; How we must seal in the kingdom. In our conversation, the Holy Spirit wants to open us up to the meaning of the word, Amen. And the word, Amen is not just a word, it is also a Person. Most importantly, in the New Covenant, Amen is a Person and we are going to look at how Amen becomes a seal for believers in the kingdom of God.

Quickly, we are going to start our observation from Revelation chapter 3 verse 14, And to the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write, ‘these things says, the Amen, the Faithful and True Witness, the Beginning of the creation of God” “And to the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write, these things says the Amen, if you check your Bible, you will see that the Amen is in capital letter ‘A’: meaning that He is a Person. So, that we would understand who the Amen is. The Faithful and True Witness, the Beginning of the creation of God. We are going to start from that place because this is a Scripture that introduces us into the personality of the Amen.

“And the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write, these things says the Amen, the Faithful and the True Witness.” So, the Amen is the True and Faithful Witness, and He is the Beginning of the creation of God. So, when we look at this description, as disciples of Jesus, who is this referring to? The Amen, the Faithful and True Witness, the Beginning of the creation of God. Who is this referring to? Jesus! This is referring to Jesus. He is the Amen, He is the Faithful and True Witness and He is the Beginning of the creation of God.

Now we are going to understand that further by another Scripture. Scriptures interpreting Scriptures in 2 Corinthians chapter 1 verse 18. We have been using the word, Amen. When we pray, we say Amen. What does it really mean? Is it a religious word? Is it something that we just say to conclude a prayer or it has a deeper meaning than that?

2 Corinthians chapter 1 verse 18 to 20, “18 But as God is faithful, our word to you was not Yes and No. 19 For the Son of God, Jesus Christ, who was preached among you by us—by me, Silvanus, and Timothy—was not Yes and No, but in Him was Yes. 20 For all the promises, not some, all the promises of God in Him, who is the Him? Jesus Christ, all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us.”

I want to read that verse 20 again, for all the promises of God in Him are Yes. Apostle Paul said, the message we have brought to you is not a yes or no message, that in some instances it is yes. Can you be healed? Yes! Can you be wealthy? No! He said the message we have brought to you; the good news of Jesus is not a yes or no. It is yes. Then in verse 20, he went to say that for all the promises. So, from Genesis to Revelation, all the promises of God is in Him. And all those promises that are in Him, Apostle Paul made us to understand by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, that it is what? Yes! They are yes!

So, have you read any promise from Genesis to Revelation? Apostle Paul is saying that if you are in Christ Jesus, the answer is in Him? And the answer is yes. That God will make you victorious, the answer is yes. Can God give you to partake of the cattle upon a thousand hills that are His? Yes! Silver and gold belong to God, can you partake of it? The answer is what? Yes! That no one will be barren in the land, is a promise of God and what is the answer? Yes! So, when you say Amen, when you pray, and you are not in Christ Jesus, you don't have answers. Amen is not a religious language. He is a Person. When you pray and say amen, and you don't understand the background in the kingdom behind Amen, you are just saying a word. But Apostle Paul made us to understand in verse 20 here, he says, for all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen.

So, what is the meaning of Amen? What is the meaning of that word, Amen? It means, so be it. It means, it is sure. It means, it is fixed. Another word for it is fixed is that it is settled. It means to be trusted. It means to be reliable. It means truly, so be it! So, when the Bible, in Revelation chapter 3 verse 14 is talking about Amen, it is talking about Amen as a Person; the Person that has the answer to all of the promises of God. In our generation, and in our world, we are full of questions. How did this world come to be? What will tomorrow hold? Will I be great tomorrow? Will I live to see another day? All of the answers are in Christ Jesus.

Jesus is the answer, according to verse 20 of 2 Corinthians chapter 1, he said for all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us. So, Amen is beyond a word, Amen is a Person. His promises are yes.

I want to read the concluding part of that verse 20, in another translation (AMPC). For this reason we also utter the Amen (so be it) to God through Him [in His Person and by His agency] to the glory of God. Now what does that mean? The Amen is in Christ. When you say Amen outside Christ, it is empty. Do you know that herbalists when they pray too, they say their own version of Amen. Other religious organizations all over the world, they say their own version of Amen. But, Amen in the kingdom of God is not lip service, it is not just agreement. It is an answer. Amen in the kingdom of God is what? An answer and the answer is in a Person.

I want to show us a Scripture in 2 Corinthians chapter 3 verse 7 and 18, 7But if the ministry of death, written and engraved on stones, was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not look steadily at the face of Moses because of the glory of his countenance, which glory was passing away.” Let’s jump to Verse 18, But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.”

“But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image. Do you understand where we're coming from, from verse 7? If the ministry of death, what’s the ministry of death? The law written and engraved on stones was glorious. What was the glory of the ministry of death? The ministry of the law? When Moses came down from the mountain, they could not look at his face. His face was radiant, so that the children of Israel could not look steadily at the face of Moses, because of the glory of his countenance, which glory was passing away and that glory has passed away.

So, in Christ Jesus, what do we have? But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of God. So, when the promises of God comes to us, the way we can access that promise is that we are beholding in a mirror. Another word we can use to replace the word glory, is the promise of God. When the word of God comes to you, what you should be doing, the way you can get answer is that you are beholding as in a mirror the glory of God. Another word for the glory of God is the promise of God. Another word for the promise of God is the word.

When you behold, the Bible says, and you are being transformed into the same image, that's how our answer comes. When a word comes to you from the Lord, it is His promise; it is His will concerning you. You just don't receive that word, the way to receive it is to first behold it.

The Bible says, looking unto Jesus, the author, and the finisher of our faith. So, when you want to receive answer from God, you must first behold Jesus. Your answer does not come in your righteousness. Your answer does not come because you did 71 days fasting and prayer, to beat that of Jesus. Your answer did not come because you are on the mountain. Your answer comes by beholding. The Bible says, and as we behold, beholding as in a mirror the glory of God, are being transformed into the same image. The promise you are beholding becomes the answer that you become.

When you behold the answer, the answer comes to you. When you refuse to behold the answer, the answer does not come to you. Jesus is the answer. To get the answer, you must behold. He said, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same, not another kind. The same answer you see in Jesus is the same answer that comes to your life because you are beholding. The same glory, the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord. So, Amen is a Person, the promise of God is in Him for us. But for us to get the answer, we must look at Him. Anyone that fails to look at Him cannot get the answer.

I want to show us another Scripture, Matthew chapter 17 verse 1 to 5. The answer is in Him, God Himself said it in Matthew chapter 17 verse 1 to 5, 1 Now after six days Jesus took Peter, James, and John his brother, led them up on a high mountain by themselves; 2 and He was transfigured before them. His face shone like the sun, just like what we were reading in 2nd Corinthains chapter 3 that we just read, His face shone like the sun, and His clothes became as white as the light. 3 And behold, Moses and Elijah appeared to them, talking with Him. 4 Then Peter answered and said to Jesus, “Lord, it is good for us to be here; if You wish, let us make here three tabernacles: one for You, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.”

What was wrong with this method? What they saw was so attractive, what they saw was so interesting and they wanted to keep seeing it, and this is what happens in religion. You go to a church to pray, and you get answer, then you build a tabernacle there. You go to another ministry to pray, and you build a tabernacle there because you want to keep getting answers. That one, when I went to pray, I received answer for my children, one tabernacle for children. That one, when I went to pray, I received answer for my business, one tabernacle for my business. And in religion, people build tabernacles in different places for their answers. They saw that there was a possibility of answer in Moses. They saw that there was a possibility of answer in Elijah, and another dimension in Jesus.

So, Peter advised and said, Lord, it is good for us, not good for Jesus. It is good for us; we are the ones that need answers. We are the ones that need mantles. We are the ones that desire new dimensions. It is good for us to be here. People want to stay where they get answers. People want to stay where it is sure. But God said, I have set in Zion, a stone for a foundation. A sure stone, a tried stone, the chief cornerstone. One stone, not three, one! And God was going to reveal it again here.

Verse 5, While he was still speaking, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them; and suddenly a voice came out of the cloud, saying, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. Hear Him!”

While he was still speaking, there was something God wanted us to do. That word was still in his mouth. Behold, a bright cloud, overshadowed them; and suddenly a voice came out of the cloud, saying, this is My beloved Son. Moses is My servant. Elijah is My servant. Jesus is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. What did God say? Hear Him! Peter said it is good for us to be here. But God said, where it is good for you to be is wherever you can hear Him.

As a believer, where it is good for you to be is where you can hear Him. If you cannot hear Him, don't be there. If who you are hearing there is Moses, that's a wrong location. If who you are hearing is Elijah, it is a wrong location. Where you should be is where you hear Him, Jesus Christ! Because He is the answer. He has the solution. If you can behold Him, you will be transformed into the same image. If you can behold Him, the promises of God in Him becomes yes in your life. If you can hear Him. Very profound Scripture!

God said, hear Him! He said it to Peter, James and John and He is saying it to us again, hear Him! Your answer is in Jesus. That's why if anybody is praying for you, and the person is not praying from the Word, don't say Amen. The only promises that are yes, is the one in Christ Jesus, and who is Christ Jesus? He is the Word. John chapter 1, let's see it together. So, it is important that we understand this truth. John chapter 1 from verse 1, “1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God.”

You know, this Scripture is validating what we read in Revelation chapter 3 verse 14, Amen, the True and Faithful Witness, the Beginning of God's creation. “2 He was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. 4 In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. 5 And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it. 6 There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. 7 This man came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all through him might believe. 8 He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light. 9 That was the true Light which gives light to every man coming into the world. 10 He was in the world, and the world was made through Him, and the world did not know Him.”

I want us to move to Verse 14, “And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.” And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld, you see, there is something about the Word and beholding. If you don't behold, you cannot benefit. To behold is to benefit. If you are not seeing Jesus clearly, you cannot receive from Jesus clearly. We beheld His glory. Is this not the same understanding that we had in 2 Corinthians chapter 3 verse 18? “And we beheld His glory; the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.”

The questions of our lives as believers are divided into two, it is either you are searching for answer in grace, or you are searching for answer in truth. And those two dimensions or divisions as you may want to call it is where our answers come, and He is full of it. If we refuse to look at Jesus, we can't receive all the promises of God in our lives. The answer is in Him. The day you decide to behold Him is the day you will be transformed into the same image. When you refuse to behold Him, nothing changes in your life.

There was a woman that had twelve years issue of blood. She had gone to doctors. I'm sure she had engaged with motivational speakers. You can do it! You can make it! But nothing changed, nothing changed! The Bible says, she spent all, and nothing changed until she said within herself, if I can but touch. Is it not when you see Jesus that you will touch? Could she have touched Jesus in her house? Could she have touched Jesus outside Jesus? To touch Jesus is to see Him. It is when you see Him that you say, this is Jesus and you behold Him that you can touch.

The Bible says and she said within herself that if I can but touch. But something preceded that, there was a kingdom principle that worked in her favor. What was that principle? Beholding! Beholding! She beheld and touched, and when she touched, she was made whole and Jesus turned, “someone touched Me.” And His disciples said, “but Jesus, many people are around You.” But He said this touch is a different touch. This touch is a touch that has drawn something from Me. This touch has come as a result of beholding.

There are many things we desire from the Lord. There are many questions we are asking for answers in our lives. The answer is in beholding Jesus; the Amen. It is when you see Him that you will be like Him. Apostle Paul says, it has not yet been revealed what we shall be like, but when we see Him, when Christ Jesus our life appears, then we will be like Him. When Jesus appears, when Jesus appears to you, does He appear with cancer? Does He appear with sickness? Does He appear with poverty? What kind of life do you desire in God? When you see it in Jesus, you become that life. When Jesus your life appears!

So, you will not stay in your room and be saying, Jesus, I want you to appear to me physically. He appears to you as the Eternal Word. As you behold! All the promises of God scripted from Genesis and Revelation, you can behold them and you behold them by the Spirit of the Lord, and with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, we are being changed, we are being transformed into the same image.

I want to show us something; how God started giving His promise to mankind in Genesis chapter 12. Genesis chapter 12 from verse 1 to 3, “1 Now the Lord had said to Abram: get out of your country, from your family and from your father's house, to a land that I will show you. 2 I will make you a great nation; all these promises are Amen in Christ Jesus. They are yes.

Do we remember that Scripture where the Bible says that if you are heirs of God, then you are heirs according to promise, to father Abraham, because you are in Christ Jesus. He said 2I will make you a great nation; I will bless you and make your name great; and you shall be a blessing. 3 I will bless those who bless you, and I will curse him who curses you; and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.” In you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.

I want us to take a moment to look at that ‘B’ part of verse 3, in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed. Was this promise fulfilled in Abraham? Was it in Abraham that all the families of the earth, not Israel, all the families of the earth, were they blessed in Abraham biologically? No! How did this promise get fulfilled? In Christ! Whether Jew or Greek, circumcised or uncircumcised availeth not, Christ in all. So, when the Bible truly said to us that all the promises of God are fulfilled in Him. This was a critical promise that God made. In Christ Jesus, all the families of the earth are blessed. So, whether you are Jew or Greek, whether you are circumcised or uncircumcised, you are blessed in Christ Jesus.

So, it is true, the word of God is true. That yes to all of God's promise is in Christ. There is nothing God has said concerning you, there is nothing God has said concerning me that is not possible in Christ. The Bible says, He has blessed us with all heavenly blessings, all spiritual blessings in Christ Jesus, all! I love when I see all in Scriptures. That's why when we read that 2 Corinthians chapter 1, he said, all the promises, whether the promises is in Deuteronomy, whether it is in Genesis, whether it's in Exodus, whether it’s in Numbers, whether it’s in Revelation, whether it is in 1 Peter or 2 Peter or in Jude; all the promises of God is Yes in Him. So, if I see Him, if I behold Him, I have my answers.

So, what is our seal in the kingdom? What is the assurance we have, that I have it, I have the answer? The assurance is not just saying the word, Amen. It is saying it in Christ Jesus. So, if you are not born again, you have now accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior, and somebody is praying for you, that prayer is still hanging until you give your life to Christ. It won't come to pass because the Person that is the guarantee of our answer is Christ. If you have not beheld Him, if you are not beholding Him, you don't have the answer to God's promises. You don't have the access to God's promises. Access to all of God's promises is in Him!

Matthew chapter 17 verse 5, this is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. Hear Him! Hear what He has to say. Hear what He is saying concerning your life, that’s when the Amen becomes potent and powerful. So, when He was writing to the church in Revelation 3:14 we read, and to the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write, ‘these things says, the Amen, the Faithful and True Witness, the Beginning of the creation of God: that is who He is.

How many things are we trusting God for? How many things do we believe God should do for us? Are we beholding Him? Are we beholding our answer? Are we listening to the One that has the answer? Are we looking steadfastly without wavering on the answer that God has given to us? He is our Yes.

Apostle Paul boldly said that the Gospel we have, is not a yes or no gospel. In Christ Jesus, it is yes. It might take time because you too are taking time to behold. But once you have made up your mind and you are beholding correctly, you are beholding with all of your might, with all of your strength: the answer is what? Yes! You will be the head and not the tail, Yes! You will be above only and not beneath, Yes! The answer is Yes in Christ Jesus.

Word of Confession: (Optional)

Lord Jesus, I confess to you that I have sinned against the LORD God - in the rebellion of my heart, I have disappointed your expectations on my life. I have fallen from Your grace and followed wrong influences around me. Today, I retrace my steps back to you - and I ask that in your mercy you accept me as your son and give to me (again) the promise of the Father - the Holy Spirit. Lord Jesus, please, come and make my heart your home, and from there rule in the affairs of all men. In Jesus Name I have prayed.
