Blessed him and said: “Surely, the smell of my son Is like the smell of a field Which the Lord has blessed. 28 Therefore may God give you of the dew of heaven, Of the fatness of the earth, And plenty of grain and wine. 29 Let people serve you, and nations bow down to you. Be master over your brethren, and let your mother’s sons bow down to you. Cursed be everyone who curses you, and blessed be those who bless you! (Genesis 27:27-29.)
The matter is not a question of if we can speak in tongues for hours, fast and pray for days — dry, no, no, no. It is a Faith deal. "That the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.”
Jacob was blessed by his father Isaac, but there was no physical material like cash, land, staff, crown or honour, that was passed to him, yet Esau was greatly troubled because he knew what had been stolen from him forever. Jacob received the blessings by faith. It was not just enough that Esau was crying up and down because he was supplanted by Jacob. The question we should first ask is did Esau have the virtue to maintain the blessings? There was no physical food in the blessings, if he could sell his birthright that he didn't labour to get, how are we sure Edom wouldn’t have sold the blessings to even a none Jewish person if he had got the blessings?
Beloved, Faith is the real deal. The same blessings that brother Esau was crying his life out for missing it is the same blessings God has made available for us in Christ Jesus today, yet we preferred He had packaged some money in a Ghana-must-go bag to give us instead.
The Bible says, "Then I looked, and I heard the voice of many angels around the throne, the living creatures, and the elders; and the number of them was ten thousand times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands, saying with a loud voice: “Worthy is the Lamb who was slain to receive power and riches and wisdom, And strength and honour and glory and blessing!” (Rev 5:11-12, NKJV.)
Just as Isaac was to Esau in the Book of Genesis, who was crying because he missed the blessings, that's who Jesus has become for us. But instead of coming to Jesus, to abide in Him, and get the blessings; we preferred it was physical cash God is raining down on us, not knowing that the riches we are refusing to settle with/for in Christ are endless and transgenerational. What we want is immediate goods; money, a good job, cars, Visa, and luxury life. We are ignorant of the contents of the package — the blessings. We prefer what can finish to what's eternal. (2 Cor. 4:18.)
Do you know that despite all the blessings that Jacob got from his father, it was only Shepard's stick that he left his home with when he was running to Laban's house from the presence of his brother and his father's house? Everything the father had was taken over by Esau, all the physical cash and properties, all the cows, sheep, and horses. Yet, his greatness and fame still last to this day. Halleluiah! But do you also know that apart from the sin of Edom, Esau, there is nothing to remember about him today despite all the material things he gathered for himself?
Friend, do you care for the true blessings of Abraham, that has been given to all the Nations of the earth through Christ Jesus? Or you are about the physical material; physical prosperity that is just but for a moment; they will finish and never be enough. The blessings of Christ Jesus do not finish, they last till eternity, but they are not to be received by mere wishes, by sight; they come to us by the virtue of Faith. Many got the blessings, but like Esau said concerning his birthright, and despised it, so has the case been with the body of Christ today:
And Esau said, “Look, I am about to die; so, what is this birthright to me?” Then Jacob said, “Swear to me as of this day.” So, he swore to him and sold his birthright to Jacob. And Jacob gave Esau bread and stew of lentils; then he ate and drank, arose, and went his way. Thus, Esau despised his birthright. (Ge 25:32-34, NKJV.)
The problem with Esau was not that he was never a firstborn, he was, but he despised it because it could not grant his immediate gratification of needs for his physical hunger. Even GOD knew Esau wouldn't have been able to handle the blessings, of course, he lacks the resilience to keep the blessings. It was not for nothing for God to have chosen Jacob over Esau and it was hard for Isaac to overturn it. No, it was beyond him to wish it out to another.
Our problem is not because there is Satan on the earth, even in the days of Jacob, Abraham, and Isaac there was Satan on the earth. The fight never exempted any generation. The Bible speaks concerning the fathers, "And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death." (Rev. 12:11.)
What it is we love will determine whether we can persevere to reap the harvest of the blessings we have received in Christ Jesus, or despise it because our hearts desire something else. We wished it came to us as we wanted, but it didn't work for those before us like that. GOD is not in a hurry to hurry anyone of us from the stage. Abraham didn't get the blessings overnight, and neither did Jacob reap the harvest just without waiting for the time for it. Laban shortchanged him for years, but when it was time, God released to him the harvest of his patience. (Read Genesis 31:7.)
Will you count it a robbery with God that others are making the desired progress in life, ministry, and business, but it seems your life has been put on standby? The blessings in Christ are for all that have come to God in Him; all without exclusion. But not without Faith. The blessings of Christ Jesus are received by faith. Without the virtue of Faith, there is no way we can sustain the blessings till the maturity of time. We can't have it done our way, if we want it done our way, we can't reap the harvest of what we have despised, even if we were to seek it with tears later in life, except by mercy, just like Esau, we won't be able to get it back. We could decide to despise the blessings while we are young, but it is not in our power to undo our decision at our convenience and say to God, "I have come back, the blessings, give them to me now". Except by mercy, we can't opt out, and later opt-in at our time. It was never so for Adam, Esau, Judas Iscariot, Lucifer, and the like.
If you value the blessings, then faith is our sustenance of the blessings. There was nothing else that the fathers did that was different that we could go and wake them up from rest to ask, they possessed their blessings; their testimonies by faith. Christ Jesus was able to get the blessings by Faith, and He has become to us the life and the way to abide and walk in and hold in confidence for us to get His kind of result in our generation. Let's grow and treasure the virtue because it is the only deal for the show.
GOD bless you!
